I didn't get over to see my mom today because I have a migraine, but yesterday was hard. She didn't want to move a muscle because she was afraid she would hurt. This is pretty much how she is every day now. Her pain seemed to becoming worse and worse by the minute.
I went down to talk to her charge nurse because I had some questions about her care plan. My dad came down and told the nurse that my mom was really hurting so the nurse decided to put her on a pain med called Narco every 3 hours. I don't think it's helping. Their neighbor went down to see her today and said my mom is still in really bad pain. She was crying and kept having muscle spasms. I tried to stay with her until her pill started kicking in, but I really don't think they're doing much.
So her charge nurse said that when my mom's doctor saw my mom on Friday, he said there was pretty much nothing he could do for her. What an ass. We are SERIOUSLY considering changing doctors and already have one in mind. As for her back brace, the nurse said there was nothing on my mom's chart about it, but when I called the doctor about this right before my mom went into the hospital, he wrote her out a prescription, and the hospital said they would make sure she got one as well. Now, I have to talk to her physical therapist about it. I feel like no one is doing anything to help her and the only way she gets ANYTHING remotely close to help is if I go and suggest it or ask about it. And even then I'm such a wuss about it. But that's the best I can do…at least it gets done. I found out she is on 4 other meds that she was taking in the hospital but I haven't looked up the names of them. Those of you who know me well know this is odd for me.
I just don't want my mom to hurt anymore and I'm afraid that might not happen. I want to fix it and I can't! I don't understand why and how this came on so suddenly. It's just not fair. That's just so childish to say, but it's just not fair.
