Who is Bambini? And What I Should Be Doing Today...

First off...I will start with what I should be doing today. I SHOULD be at a convention meeting JAMIE BAMBER. I SHOULD be watching him talk in a panel with KATEE SACKHOFF about BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. I should be SAYING HELLO and chatting a tiny bit but hopefully not making a fool out of myself while GETTING HIS AUTOGRAPH and MY PICTURE TAKEN WITH HIM, and also Katee.
But I'm not. Instead, I'm sitting here at my computer telling you that I'm not. WHY? Because JAMIE HAD TO CANCEL LAST WEEK. This is TOTALLY NOT Jamie's fault. Apparently, someone books all of his conventions in advance who has no idea what his schedule is going to be like in the coming year. So, because he had obligations to be working on Battlestar Galactica during the convention, he had to cancel and was replaced by Tahmoh Pinkett (Helo) from Battlestar Galactica, though Katee is still going to be there.
However, we paid A LOT of money for the BEST package so we could get good seats and other privileges, and honestly, if Jamie wasn't going to be there, I didn't think it was worth that much money to see only Katee (who I do want to see) and someone I didn't really care too much to see.
So we had our tickets purchased, our hotel reservations booked, and we had to cancel them. Luckily the convention company notified everyone in time because sometimes cancellations happen at the last minute and you end up going there and find out the DAY of the appearance that the person/people you came to see will not be there, and you're left seeing someone you paid lots of money not to see. We were also lucky that we were allowed to get a refund on our tickets due to this cancellation.
Jamie is going to be in Burbank FOR SURE for a Battlestar Galactica Convention in mid-November. He lives in L.A., so he has told several people that he WILL DEFINITELY be there. But Jeff doesn't want to go. He does not want travel that far and it would be more expensive due to that. Burbank is about five hours from here, while this convention is an hour and a half away.
I will NOT FLY (I've never flown and am incredibly scared to do so) and WILL NOT DRIVE BY MYSELF. I have NEVER driven that far and NEVER in a place like L.A., I WILL NOT STAY IN A HOTEL ROOM ALL BY MYSELF, and I WILL NOT navigate my 16-year-old-looking self around a packed convention all alone. I'm SURE I'd get lost, and I'd feel very unsafe.
However, if you all want to send Jeff a message (he is the first person on my top friends) convincing him to take me to the convention anyway, because he is being stubborn in my opinion, (he doesn't want to drive that far and isn't TERRIBLY interested in going to a BSG convention, though he is a fan), please feel free to do so...it wouldn't bother me one bit.
So WHO IS BAMBINI? Bambini is the closest I've gotten to Jamie SO FAR (I hope). Bambini is a cute little teddy bear that was signed by JAMIE BAMBER HIMSELF. I have proof. Really I do.
I won Bambini (which is one of Jamie's nicknames) back in March in an e-bay charity auction supporting a BC Women's Hosptial and Health Centre Foundations, which specializes in women's issues such as breast cancer, heart disease, at-risk pregnancies, family planning, pediatric and family medicine, fertility problems, osteoporosis, women's abuse, educational programs, and ongoing research in areas that affect women's health. I thought this was a good cause, considering my mom has had some of these illnesses, I am a woman, and I have many women in my life that I love...and so do all of you I'm sure!
Now I know this is shallow compared to what my mom is going to be going through this week, but I hardly EVER go out and do fun stuff like this, and it would like...make my LIFE!
Wish me luck that I will one day get to meet Jamie while I am still young and cute, hehe. I honestly don't think he'll be out this way again, though he does live in California now. But I guess you never know. Sigh.
Below is a picture of Jamie with Bambini, and me with Bambini. Wouldn't we make a cute couple? Hehe. Yeah, I know, he's married and has three adorable little girls. And of course that's Bambini and I in my profile pic today.
