Hi all, and thank you to those who responded. My mom got out of surgery around 3pm. The cardio said it went really well and her heart is beating much better. They are going to keep her there overnight because she has to lie flat on her back for 8 hours. Poor mom. But I saw her before she left and she was in good spirits. She said she didn't feel a thing (they didn't put her out completely). The doctor also said she should be okay to have the parathyroid surgery in June.
It was really cool too because I got to see what her arteries look like and what the stents look like right on the computer screen. The doctor put in two stents, so now she has a total of four, two in each artery. The doctor said there is much less blockage as the stents have opened up her veins, so more blood flowing through. It looked really neat. I wasn't totally sure what I was looking at a few times but overall I could see the stents (that was just amazing to see...it's like, THOSE are inside of my mom's arteries?) and the arteries, and they looked like they should look I guess, hehe.
I don't know when she's going to get a room, but whenever one is found for her, she won't be able to go up until at least 5:30pm (it's 4pm PST here). I am not sure if I'm going to go visit her, but I think I should. She'll still be lying flat though. It'll be like 1:30am before she can sit up if my calculations are right! I live about 5 to 10 minutes from the hospital as well, so it's not a big trip. Plus, with all that's been going on over the last year and a half, I always try to spend as much time as I can with her.
Alright, I guess that's it for now. I was very happy to hear the news and almost cried in front of the doctor. I cry when I'm happy, I cry when I'm sad...But I have to remain practical because you never know what could go wrong. So I'm staying optimistic but cautiously so I guess. I think she'll be okay though. The doctor sounded confident about that.
Thanks again for your support my new readers!
